Samuel Taylor is a composer, conductor, and instrumental music educator based in Central New York. He currently serves as the Instrumental Music Teacher (Grades 4–12) at the Otselic Valley Central School District, where he oversees the elementary, middle, and high school band programs. In addition to his curricular roles, Samuel serves as the advisor for the Drama Club and Marching Band, as well as the district’s Lighting & Sound Coordinator.

Teaching in a rural, high-needs district has deeply influenced Samuel’s pedagogical philosophy. He is a passionate advocate for student-centered learning that prioritizes engagement and individualized instruction, particularly within resource-constrained environments. His approach emphasizes inquiry and exploration, frequently incorporating technology and creative decision-making to cultivate students who are active musical thinkers rather than passive performers. He is currently pursuing his Master of Music in Music Education at Bowling Green State University.

As a composer, Samuel explores the intersection of acoustic and electroacoustic textures. His works range from traditional wind band and chamber ensembles to fixed media and Eurorack modular synthesis. He is dedicated to creating music that allows for personal connection and expression, often bridging the gap between technical precision and emotional resonance.
